Use Datto RMM to install or remove the Endpoint Defense agents

Follow the steps below to use the Datto RMM solution to install the Aurora Protect Desktop or Aurora Focus agent on devices, or to remove the agent from devices. Using Datto RMM to install or remove agents on Linux devices is not currently supported. After you install an agent using Datto, you can configure automatic updates in the management console.
  • Verify that devices meet the requirements to install the Aurora Protect Desktop agent or the Aurora Focus agent.
  • Note that you must install the Aurora Protect Desktop agent on devices before you install the Aurora Focus agent.
  • If you want to use Datto to install the agents, record the installation token from the Endpoint Defense console.
  • If you want to use Datto to remove an agent from devices, and you configured the agents to require an uninstall password, you must have the uninstall password.
  1. In Datto, navigate to the site that you want to use.
  2. In the site settings, navigate to the Variables section and add the following site variables. For more information about site variables, see the Datto RMM documentation:

    Name

    Value

    install_token

Copy and paste the Aurora Protect Desktop installation token from the Endpoint Defense console.

    protect_uninstall_key

    optics_uninstall_key

If you configured the Aurora Protect Desktop and Aurora Focus agents to require an uninstall password, specify the password for both site variables. Both agents use the same uninstall password. For more information, see the Require users to provide a password to remove the Aurora Protect Desktop and Aurora Focus agents.

  3. Save the changes that you made to the site.
  4. Navigate to the ComStore, search for the following components, and add them to the Datto Component Library:
    • CylancePROTECT Deploy [Win]
    • CylancePROTECT Deploy [Mac]
    • CylanceOPTICS Deploy [Win]
    • CylanceOPTICS Deploy [Mac]
  5. Create a job to deploy the appropriate component configuration to devices.
    1. Set the action to Install or Uninstall.
    2. Set the target to specific devices, sites, or site groups.
    3. Set the Execution to Run as system account.
