Install NXLog

Install NXLog Community Edition to collect and process logs.

Note:

NXLog does not automatically update. To update an existing NXLog installation, see Update NXLog and AD Sensor.

  • These resources are required:

    • One of:
      • The newest version of NXLog Platform
      • NXLog Community Edition
      • The newest version of NXLog Enterprise Edition
  • These actions are required:

    • Make sure that you meet the minimum system resources required for NXLog.

      For more information, see NXLog User Guide.

    • Contact your Concierge Security® Team (CST) at security@arcticwolf.com if you require a custom NXLog configuration. For example, if you need to forward logs from sources such as Internet Information Services (IIS) or Sophos.
  1. Go to the NXLog Downloads page of the NXLog website, and then click NXLog Community Edition.
  2. In the Available Downloads section, select Windows x86-64.
  3. Click Download.
  4. For each domain controller (DC), complete these steps:
    1. Copy the NXLog installer to the computer where you will install it.
    2. Double-click the NXLog installer to run it.
    3. On the first page of the Setup Wizard, click Next.
    4. Select the I accept the terms in the License Agreement checkbox, and then click Next.
    5. Keep the destination folder as the default, and then click Next.
    6. Click Install.
    7. When the setup wizard message appears, click Finish.
    8. Optional: To configure the NXLog service Startup type, do these actions:
      1. Open the Windows Services application, and then locate the nxlog service.
      2. Right-click the nxlog service, and then select Properties.
      3. In the General tab, in the Startup type section, select Automatic (Delayed Start).
      4. Click Apply, and then click OK.
