Generate hash values for macOS

  • In a terminal session, run this command to generate SHA hash values:
    SHELL 
    shasum -a <algorithm> <filename>

    Where:

    • algorithm is the hash algorithm, for example:
      • 256 — the algorithm for SHA256
      • 1 — the algorithm for SHA1.
    • filename is the file used to create the hash value.
  • In a terminal session, run this command to generate MD5 hash values:
    SHELL 
    md5sum <filename>

    Where:

    • filename is the file used to create the hash value.
