Edit the state of inactive risks

Note: Before you begin, review risks with a status of Inactive.

For more information about risks with the Inactive status, see Review inactive risks.

  1. Sign in to the Risk Dashboard.

  2. In the navigation menu, click Risks.

  3. In the Risks section, do one of these actions:

    • To select a single inactive risk, select the checkbox next to the risk you want to update.
    • To select all inactive risks:
      1. In the Show Entries list, select All.

      2. Select the checkbox at the top of the table, in the heading row.

        All risks are selected.

  4. Click Update Selected.

    The Bulk Update dialog appears.

  5. In the State list, select one of these options:

    • Mitigated — Changes the Status to Mitigated for all selected risks, immediately removes the risks from the default view, and removes the risks from the risk score calculation. If any of these risks are discovered again, the risk reappears on the list with a State of Open, Status of Active, and Age reflecting the date that the risk was discovered.

Tip: If the majority of the assets in your environment are online most of the time, you can change the State to Mitigated because a State of Inactive typically indicates that the risk has been mitigated.

    • Fixed, Waiting Validation — Maintains the Status of Inactive for all selected risks, and all risks remain in the risk score calculation. If any of these risks are not detected the next time the asset is scanned, the risk Status changes to Mitigated, and the risk is removed from the default view and risk score calculation.

Tip: If you have a dynamic environment, a State of Inactive could mean that the asset is offline and the risk can be verified when it is back online. In this situation, a State of Fixed, Waiting Validation could make more sense.

  6. Click Update.
