Auth0 Authentication

Arctic Wolf web portal authentication

The Arctic Wolf® Unified Portal and other Arctic Wolf web portals, for example the Risk Dashboard and the Managed Security Awareness (MA) Portal, use Auth0 as an identity provider (IdP). Auth0 verifies digital identity based on a set of factors, including multi-factor authentication (MFA) and recovery codes.

Arctic Wolf supports the traditional password and one-time password (OTP) factors. If OTP is not available, you can authenticate using a recovery code. For example, if you do not have access to your mobile device.

Set up a new Auth0 account to authenticate with Arctic Wolf

Note: If you already have an Auth0 account and access to the Unified Portal, MDR Dashboard, or Risk Dashboard, see Use an existing Auth0 account to authenticate with Arctic Wolf.

Unless otherwise instructed, to configure MFA, complete these steps on a laptop or desktop computer:

  1. In the first verification email sent by Arctic Wolf, click the URL to confirm your account.

A web browser opens an email confirmation page.

  2. Close the web browser page after it fully loads.

  3. In the second verification email sent by Arctic Wolf, click the URL to set your password in the Arctic Wolf Unified Portal.

  4. Enter a new password.

You are automatically redirected to the sign-in page, where you can use your newly created credentials.

  5. On your mobile device, install an authenticator application. For example, Google Authenticator or Authy.

  6. Use your authenticator application to scan the QR code.

  7. On your mobile device, follow the prompts to start the MFA setup process.

For example, if you are using Google Authenticator, complete these steps:

Note: Steps vary between authenticator applications.

    1. Click + to add a new account association.

    2. Select Scan Barcode.

The device camera opens and displays a box on the screen.

    3. Position the device so that the QR code is within the boundary of the box and hold the device still.

It takes 1-3 seconds for the application to register the QR code. When the QR code is scanned, the application automatically redirects you to the main screen.

  8. On your laptop or desktop computer, enter the code displayed on the authenticator application.

  9. Click >.

  10. If the code is not accepted, try again. The codes are time-sensitive. If the code has been displayed for longer than 30 seconds, it has expired and you will need a new code.

  11. Copy the one-time use recovery code, and save it in a safe, encrypted location. For example, a password manager.

Note: The code is never visible to Arctic Wolf. We cannot recover the code, but we can generate a new one for you.

  12. Select the I have safely recorded this code checkbox.

  13. Click >.
